11th January | Meeting with Senior International Trade representatives from SDI | Discussed the photonics clusters and Scotland and France, in particular Alpha-RLH, and where there could be potential future areas of collaboration. |
11th January | Photonics update meeting with official from Scottish Government | Regular monthly meeting to discuss photonics sector in Scotland and Photonics Scotland activities. |
13th January | Meeting with Kate Forbes MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Finance. | Discussed the contribution of Scotland’s Enabling Technologies Sector to the Government’s National Strategy for Economic Transformation. |
13th January | Photonics 21 Board of Stakeholders Meeting | Welcome of the new P21 BoS members. Discussions regarding Photonics Partnership in Horizon Europe, the current state of play (both public and private sides) and a status update and guidelines for both 2021/22 and 2023/24 work programmes. |
14th January | Winter meeting of the Photonics Leadership Group | Attended meeting to discuss status, issues and developments in the UK photonics sector. |
18th January | Ministerial Roundtable on DITI Technology Export Plan – with Ivan McKee, MSP, Minister for Business, Trade, Tourism and Enterprise. | Provided further sectoral input to DITI’s upcoming Technology Export Plan. |
18th January | Scottish Science Advisory Council – Quantum Opportunities in Scotland Roundtable | Attended meeting and participated in roundtable discussions regarding opportunities for quantum technologies to contribute to the Scottish Government’s vision for Scotland. |
19th January | MaaS Investment Fund Inter-Project Meeting | Coordinated meeting of all 5 MIF projects with emphasis on sharing challenges and lessons learned. |
19th January | University of Strathclyde Quantum Cluster Meeting | Regular meeting run by University of Strathclyde and attended by key stakeholders of Scottish QT to discuss the sector and recent activities, developments, and any issues faced. |
19th January | KTN – Design in Innovation Advisory Board Meeting | Invited to serve on Innovate UK KTN’s Design in Innovation Advisory Board. |
20th January | Manufacturing Network of Networks Community of Practice Meeting | Attended first COP meeting discussing a Scottish Regional Deployment Model for Digital Manufacturing on a Shoestring |
22nd – 27th January | SPIE Photonics West | Attending Photonics West and exhibiting at the trade show on the Scotland Pavilion, sharing a stand with QuantIC. Read our blog piece here. |
25th January | MaaS Scotland Data & Governance Special Interest Group | Delivered 1st MaaS SIG meeting of 2022, exploring data and governance challenges relating to future MaaS upscale. |
31st January | Meeting with Scottish Government representatives from the UK Industrial Strategy and Technologies Team, Space and Aerospace, Defence and Marine, and Manufacturing | Initial meeting to discuss the Photonics for Space SIG and learn more about how photonics can support the space sector in Scotland. |
