Technology Scotland is the leading cluster organisation developing the Key Enabling Technology (KET) sectors in Scotland. We bring industry, academia, and other institutes together to form technology clusters that develop products and services utilising Advanced Materials, Electronics, Nanotechnology, Photonics, Advanced Manufacturing and beyond.

Scotland’s Key Enabling Technology sectors contribute at least £4 Billion to the country’s economic growth every year, much of it through export sales, and employs thousands of skilled workers. Technology Scotland is your community’s voice and champion.

Special Interest Groups

Within Technology Scotland there are a number of Special Interest Groups formed around the needs of the members. These groups may exist for a long time, like the SOA, while others are formed to meet a specific need and then will be dissolved.

Scottish Optoelectronics Association

The Scottish Optoelectronics Association (SOA) is one of the largest, and oldest, technology communities in Scotland and a founder of Technology Scotland.  Formed in 1994 with the aim of stimulating economic growth in Scotland through the knowledge, manufacture and application of Optoelectronics, the SOA is a community for all photonics and photonics-enabled companies.  Photonics themed events are open to all members of Technology Scotland. If you wish to be included in updates on SOA community activities, please let us know.

Compound Semiconductors Scotland

At its core Compound Semiconductors Scotland (CSS) is a consortium of companies working together to present their supply chain as a single opportunity in the marketplace. It is also a wider group of companies and university departments connected through their mutual desire to develop new technologies and products with compound semiconductors. TS supports the group by supplying staff and resources to organise the group meetings and events.
