Technology Scotland recently caught up with our member, EDRMedeso, for our Member Spotlight series. We find out who EDRMedeso are, what they do, and much more! Take a look below and get to know them.
What does your organisation do?
At EDRMedeso, we push the boundaries of what’s possible with the power and insight of simulation software and services. From commercial space projects to cutting-edge exploration and research, our digital tools empower engineers to accurately predict how products and systems will perform in any real-world environment. This reduces time to market, minimizes risk, lowers manufacturing costs, and enhances reliability.
Our extensive simulation solutions portfolio encompasses everything from autonomous systems and spectrum operations to propulsion, lightweighting, aerodynamics, and more. Whether you’re integrating optics and photonics, electronics, advanced materials, structural design elements, thermal management, fluid dynamics, or even acoustic optimization into your projects, our solutions empower you to conquer complex multi-physics challenges, driving innovation and making your vision a reality.
We are dedicated to maximizing value for our customers through knowledge transfer and expertise. Whether you’re a well-established organization or an emerging startup, we believe in making simulation accessible to everyone. Curious to learn more? What is your organisation’s biggest achievement?
This year, we achieved a number of key milestones, the most notable of which are attaining Ansys Apex Partner status and also being named one of the top 50 Best Places to Work for employee wellbeing. We believe that these achievements go hand-in-hand.
Our relationships with our customers are built on the added value we offer to the companies we work with, culminating in our proven track record of providing professional technical training, support, and consulting that help innovators across Scotland – and beyond – overcome their engineering challenges through knowledge transfer.
To do this, we have created an internal technical team comprising of experts across all professions with real-world knowledge in the simulation of structures and materials, optics and photonics, and more. Our latest accolade came very recently where EDRMedeso was named one of the top 10 photonics providers in the UK, you can find out more in Semiconductor Review’s interview with our expert Sophia.
This dedication to helping our customers improve their business and perfect their technologies has culminated in EDRMedeso being recognised as one of only five worldwide Ansys Apex partners. To complement this, EDRMedeso’s wellbeing initiatives are designed to create a supportive, nurturing environment where our employees can thrive in what they do, which is more than just selling software.
Tell us something exciting about your organisation
Right now, we’re gearing up to exhibit at Space:Comm Scotland in Glasgow on the 11th and 12th of September. EDRMedeso will be right in the heart of the event on stand H11, welcoming companies from across Scotland looking to take advantage of simulation for satellite communication, optical design, photonic circuits and more.
This is a significant event for a fast-growing sector in Scotland, with Glasgow now making more satellites than anywhere else in the world outside of California. Scotland is one of the world’s leading space nations with over 150 space companies located across the country, so this event will be a hub of activity full of international delegations, keynote speakers product unveilings, and we’re thrilled to be a part of it.
Why did you join Technology Scotland?
We joined Technology Scotland to be at the centre of this network during an important and hugely exciting era of growth and change for the technology sector and Scotland. And to make a discernable difference. We’re here to meet and work with the innovators on their journey of developing the technologies and products that will drive the country forward. This is our mantra, we are people enabling innovation.
Our participation in the Technology Scotland community will be led by Eric Kane, EDRMedeso Territory Manager responsible for Scotland and Ireland. A long-time engineering sector professional, Eric has undertaken a variety of senior roles within the aerospace sector for, BAE Systems, Pratt & Whitney, Air Canada Technical Services and Bombardier in Canada.
Eric is engaged with the engineering and technical community with which he empathises. He explains, “this is a great time to work alongside Scotland’s engineering community. There has clearly been dedicated investment within the Scottish technology sector both by Government and academic institutions. Catapults and innovation centres in the manufacturing space are also supporting the drive in technology innovation and EDRMedeso is well placed to collaborate in this development. Having a partnership with Technology Scotland is a great fit for us to advocate and partner Scottish initiatives. I know we can make a difference and propel the Scottish technology ecosystem towards groundbreaking achievements.
