The Technology Scotland team are delighted to announce that Dr. Alison McLeod, Director of Photonics Scotland, has been selected for the Electro Optics Photonics100 2026 list!

The Photonics100 recognises excellence in photonics, highlighting individuals who have driven innovation over the past year and helped their organisations stay at the forefront of the field.

Alison’s passion for advancing the photonics industry in Scotland is evident in every aspect of her work. She plays a key role in supporting Scotland’s Critical Technologies Supercluster—bringing together photonics, quantum, sensing and imaging, and semiconductors—through regular working group meetings.

She champions diversity as a management team member for the Opening up Photonics initiative, addressing key issues to promote equality and help close the current skills gaps in the industry.

Over the past year, Alison has taken on numerous speaking roles, presenting to both industry and academia. Through these engagements, she has highlighted the benefits of working in photonics, inspired prospective students, and broadened awareness of photonics careers. Her efforts also showcase Scotland’s strengths in photonics and help build strong international networks.

Alison continues to expand these global connections through regular meetings with international counterparts, reinforcing Scotland’s position as a leading player in photonics.
