Technology Scotland recently caught up with our member, Metahelios, for our Member Spotlight series. We find out about who Metahelios are, what they do, and much more! Take a look below and get to know them.
What does your organization do?
Metahelios Ltd is a deep tech start-up that develops highly advanced cameras for defence and space applications. Experts of a high impact emerging technology called metasurface technology, we are the first and only company in the world to design and manufacture metasurface-integrated camera solutions for applications ranging from material classification to detection of greenhouse gas emissions. The metasurface market for sensing was recently projected to be worth $5.5B by 2030, and we aspire to be the leading company on this global market.
What is your organisation’s biggest achievement?
Metahelios Ltd was founded in January 2022, so we are indeed a very young company. I think our biggest achievement has been to build this company, which includes manufacturing our technology for our customers, working with our industrial partners, and working with all the people that have allowed this business to be successful.
Tell us something exciting about your organisation?
Metahelios is the only company in the world to have developed a technology that has been sought-after for the past two decades. Our infrared technology is the first single layer pixelated filter technology on the market. It allows for instance for a Shortwave Infrared camera to take pictures with several different filters all at once, in a single snapshot, with no moving parts. Previously, capturing such images required using several cameras.
As well, both cofounders of Metahelios were also recently named British Business Bank Start Up Loans Ambassadors for the Scotland region. Both Charles Altuzarra and Yash Shah are eager to take on their new responsibilities as ambassadors.
Why did you join Technology Scotland?
Technology Scotland is an exceptional organisation that creates opportunities for technological companies but more than that, and of specific interest to our deep tech startup, creates exposure both nationally and internationally. In addition, monthly meetings guarantee a strong network of professionals from which all members enormously benefit from.
