Technology Scotland is announcing that Stephen Taylor is planning to step down from his role as CEO.

On behalf of all the members of Technology Scotland, Photonics Scotland, MaaS Scotland, Product Design Scotland and the broader community, the Board would like to thank Stephen for his personal dedication and hard work in building Technology Scotland into the strong, vibrant, organisation that it is today, and we wish Stephen all the very best for the future.

MaaS Scotland has been created from scratch and in just two years has grown into one of the largest MaaS clusters in Europe with a very healthy and active membership working together with government and agencies to deliver tangible benefits to society and the economy.

Graeme Scott – Chair of the MaaS Scotland Board said: “Stephen Created a new organisation which has, in its short time of operation, been instrumental in progressing the new mobility agenda in Scotland and achieving global recognition in the process, which is a testament to the efforts of Stephen and his team”

In April this year the Scottish Optoelectronics Association (SOA) celebrated its 25th anniversary. Stephen led the launch of the paper ‘Photonics in Scotland: A Vision for 2030’ and the rebrand of the SOA as Photonics Scotland at Scotland’s largest industrial photonics event for many years when Scotland hosted the EPIC Annual meeting for the first time in the UK bringing several hundred influential photonics industrialists to Scotland.

Chris Dorman – Chair of Photonics Scotland said: “Stephen has played a central and critical role in driving the Photonics Community in Scotland. The creation of Photonics Scotland and the celebration of 25 years of Optoelectronics in Scotland are particular highlights. He leaves the organisation in a robust state to support the growth and continuing success of the sector in future”.

Thanks to the efforts of Stephen and the team over the last few years Technology Scotland has grown to over 120 members and represents a community of over 800 organisations, and 2000 individuals. Technology Scotland is grateful to Stephen who has agreed to support a smooth transition this year and as such Technology Scotland will continue to deliver for its members.
