Technology Scotland recently caught up with our member, Jabil, for our Member Spotlight series. We find out who Jabil are, what they do, and much more! Take a look below and get to know them.
What does your organisation do?
At Jabil, more than 140,000 employees at over 100 facilities in 28 countries are part of a global team with the vision to become the world’s most technologically advanced and trusted manufacturing solutions provider. Based in St. Petersburg, Florida, we continually build upon nearly 60 years of experience to give customers consistent access to the most forward-thinking design and engineering expertise, state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities, and sophisticated supply chain solutions.
With unmatched breadth and depth of end-market experience across industries like healthcare, photonics, and automotive and transportation, Jabil delivers tailored, proactive solutions throughout the entire product lifecycle. Our unique business unit model provides each customer with individualised service and open lines of communication from a dedicated team within Jabil, fostering collaboration and flexibility.
Within Jabil, our strategic supply chain organisation of more than 3,000 professionals supports customer-specific, tailored solutions for local, regional, and global execution — from assurance of supply, on-time delivery, and inventory management solutions to distribution and logistics infrastructure, sourcing and supplier management, and overall risk mitigation solutions. We prioritise and continually invest in our digital supply chain capabilities, keeping us at the forefront of evolving technologies and helping our customers navigate inevitable supply chain disruptions.
Even at our global scale, we remain an entrepreneurial organisation — always in pursuit of new ways to solve our customers’ toughest challenges. We share a common purpose to make a positive impact for our employees, our communities, our partners, and our environment.
What is your organisation’s biggest achievement?
In 2023, Jabil launched a portfolio of standalone procurement and supply chain services available to companies of any size and industry — without even being a manufacturing customer. Companies can now take advantage of Jabil’s 60 years of expertise and intelligence across global supply chains to solve their own unique business challenges.
Backed by the leverage and relationships gained from Jabil’s $30 billion annual spend and our global network of 36,000 suppliers, we deliver advantages in secure supply, cost-saving opportunities, on-time delivery, and more. We are a trusted partner acting as an extension of our clients’ procurement and supply chain teams, delivering market intelligence, consultative advisory, and managed services.
Tell us something exciting about your organisation
Jabil is innovatively reshaping the supply chain landscape by providing procurement and supply chain services with a practitioner’s mindset. Our services are built and delivered by experts who manage logistics, procurement, and supply chain for our own company every day. Whether it is managing a comprehensive global sourcing program or leveraging emerging technologies and tools to optimise operational efficiency, our experienced team of professionals will ensure that you remain one step ahead of the curve.
Additionally, by acquiring companies like Retronix, which specialises in circular economy and component recovery services — and ProcureAbility, known for its expertise in procurement solutions, to add to its portfolio, Jabil offers a wide range of services to ensure our clients can navigate the complexities of modern supply chains with greater efficiency and agility.
Why did you join Technology Scotland?
Jabil has a long-standing history in Scotland. In fact, we opened our Livingston, Scotland, facility in 1997, marking the company’s first location outside the U.S. This site enabled us to build and serve a substantial customer base within the EME region. Acquiring Retronix, which has been headquartered in Coatbridge, Scotland, for more than 30 years, further deepened Jabil’s ties with the region.
Additionally, we believe our breadth and depth of experience in design, engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain across industries such as photonics, automotive and transportation, and healthcare presents an excellent opportunity to network with Scottish companies operating in these markets.
