Photonics for Space: Special Interest Group
This meeting of the Photonics for Space SIG will be hosted by the new West of Scotland Space Cluster (www.westofscotland.space).
Co-chair of the cluster and founder of Clyde Space, Craig Clark MBE, will provide an overview of the regional space cluster’s capabilities across a number of areas, including satellite manufacturing, earth observation and data services, launch vehicle development, as well as enabling technologies such as quantum, photonics and AI. He will also provide information on the cluster’s strategic focus and ambitions.
After the presentation, Craig will lead an open discussion to better understand attendee views of opportunities across both the research and commercial domains.
Craig will be supported by Heather Anderson, who represents ADS Scotland on the cluster advisory group, and Ross Methven from University of Strathclyde Major Projects team who led on the development of a £100m space sector bid into the Glasgow City Investment Zone process. Ross will provide a brief overview of Project PRISM and its ambitions across the space and defence sectors.
We shall also have a review of recent activities, upcoming events and funding opportunities within the space sector.
