Out of this World – Space Industry Day

Scotland is home to a vibrant cluster of space companies that encompasses a broad range of activities. The Scottish Government has ambitions for Scotland to become a leading European space nation by delivering full end-to-end solutions for a range of technologies including small satellite manufacture, launch, and innovation in satellite data analysis, including critical earth observation and environmental data. Scotland’s dynamic and growing space sector focuses upon a number of high-tech, high skill and research & development intensive areas.

University of Glasgow has strong research capabilities, expertise and facilities to support the development of a broad range of space and space adjacent technologies, as well as funding mechanisms to support collaborative industry-academic research. There are existing industry partnerships between the university and industry, but the university seeks to understand how existing partnerships can be strengthened, how new relationships could be developed, and how the university could better support the Scottish Space industry to accelerate growth.

University of Glasgow is hosting a Space Industry Day on 30th May and invites delegates to hear from a range of speakers from industry and academia presenting cutting-edge research during the morning segment of the event on the following topics:

  • Space Manufacturing
  • Earth Observation & Climate Intelligence
  • Space Sustainability
  • Connectivity

To better understand the needs of industry, the university is holding breakout workshop sessions during the afternoon segment on the above topics to allow industry to outline their challenges and researchers from the university to explore how they could support industry to overcome these challenges.
