Yesterday, 10 December, Technology Scotland brought together representatives from organisations across the critical technologies ecosystem for a hands-on workshop to shape the Capability Map for the Scottish Critical Technologies Supercluster.

During the session, Dr. Elena Kniazeva (Senior Programme Manager – Critical Technologies, Technology Scotland) presented the developing vision for a new digital interactive platform that will map, highlight, and connect Scotland's capabilities in Critical Technologies. We explored what the first version of this platform could look like, including an interactive database, a Scotland-wide capability map, and clear pathways for organisations to showcase what they do.
The group also discussed future more advanced features that could make the platform even more useful.
The community's enthusiasm and interest for the proposed interactive platform was clear and was encouraging to see that the development was moving into the right direction.
This platform will bring real value to local organisations and to Scotland as a whole. It will help:
- Show Scotland's capabilities in critical technologies to the wider public in a clear, visual, data-backed up way
- Make it easier for international investors to understand the ecosystem and interact with it
- Help local organisations find new collaborators, suppliers, and facilities
- Provide relevant data to the government for the strategy development and funding allocations
All discussions and ideas were captured by the Technology Scotland team (Dr Alastair McInroy , Dr Alison McLeod, Dr Elena Kniazeva) and Christopher Leburn from PQA. A special thank-you to Christopher for helping the team and for his expert facilitation.
All contributions will directly inform the next stages of platform development.
We are genuinely excited to continue building an inclusive digital presence for Scotland's critical technologies — a platform that will become the front door for the world to engage with Scotland's innovation ecosystem, and the engine room that empowers the supercluster to grow, collaborate, and thrive.
