The Government has recently published a new national quantum strategy that sets out its 10-year vision and actions required from the UK to be a “leading quantum-enabled economy”.
The Commons Science and Technology Committee have announced a call for evidence to examine what support the sector needs to achieve commercialisation of quantum technologies and what interventions are required from the Government to drive the success of the UK’s quantum technologies sector.
The Committee welcomes submissions addressing any or all of the following topics:
• Recent progress made on quantum technologies and their potential impact on society or the economy, in areas including, but not limited to:
o critical national infrastructure;
o national security;
o health;
o position, navigation and timing;
o communications; and
o engineering
• The strengths and weaknesses UK National Quantum Technologies Programme and how this has shaped the UK quantum industry
• What the prospects of the UK’s quantum industry and how these compare to other nations with strengths in quantum
• Interventions that are required from Government, industry and academia to drive the commercialisation of quantum technologies
• Whether the vision and actions set out in the Government’s new national quantum strategy are fit for purpose
