Project Description

FAIRTIQ is an innovative PAYG mobile ticketing system that makes travelling on public transport simpler and easier than ever before.

The app allows users to easily check-in and check-out rather than buying a ticket from the driver, at a TVM or a booking office. This removes the hassle and expense of gates and validators. At the end of their journey, users are charged the lowest possible price for the actual journey undertaken – whether it is single or multi-leg, or involving more than one operator.

In Switzerland, FAIRTIQ covers all 250 operators of the transport network (Train, Tram, Bus, Cable Car, Ferry) and has been adopted by an increasing number of European Operators. FAIRTIQ has now been used for over 100m journeys.

Many operators are utilising the flexibility that it provides to innovate their fare structures to encourage passengers to shift to public transport.

In addition to providing an App, FAIRTIQ also provides a full SDK so that the functionality can be incorporated into a local App or overall MaaS.

‘The Way We Move’ is a short film presented by UITP and produced by BBC StoryWorks. It profiles a dancer who likes ultimate flexibility for her spontaneous lifestyle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgujL68r8lA
