SUMMARY:MaaS Scotland SIG: Governance
DESCRIPTION:About this SIG:\n\n\nThe direction of MaaS development and deployment will continue to be heavily influenced by regional and national policy instruments. If we are to realise the many benefits of MaaS then these instruments must encourage modal shift through supporting more accessible\, integrated\, affordable and environmentally friendly services. They must also be adapted in such a way as to continue to encourage private sector collaboration and investment. \nThis group will explore the role of good governance in the delivery of MaaS and will discuss areas including: \n\nPolicy alignment and maximising public value\nDeveloping the public-private partnership\nDelivery models\nRegulation and licensing\nInnovation and procurement\n\n\nNext meeting – 11th May – REGISTER TODAY \nFIND OUT MORE ABOUT THIS SIG AND PAST MEETINGS

SUMMARY:MaaS Scotland Special Interest Group: User and Stakeholder Engagement
DESCRIPTION:About this SIG:\n\n\nThe development of MaaS is regularly discussed in terms of technical challenges or the relentless quest to find commercially viable business models for its delivery. However\, while this is understandable\, these conversations all too often neglect the ultimate measurement of success – user adoption. \nIn order to realise the many benefits of MaaS and drive the positive change we all believe it could bring\, we must ensure that the user and other stakeholders are brought with us on the journey\, ready to engage with solutions as they appear in our cities and rural areas. This requires a thorough understanding of the various stakeholders – what drives decision making and what are the expectations of a successful mobility solution? \nThis group will explore areas such as: \n\nBottom up approaches to MaaS delivery\nUser centred design and marketing and promotional tools towards success\nAlignment with broader societal goals\n\n\nNext meeting – 28th April – REGISTER TODAY \nFIND OUT MORE ABOUT THIS SIG AND PAST MEETINGS

SUMMARY:MaaS Scotland Special Interest Group: Data and Security
DESCRIPTION:About this SIG:\n\nData will be a key enabler for future MaaS solutions. From fares to scheduling\, traffic management to vehicle positioning\, data will support more informed travel choices and allow more efficient use of our transport assets. \nAgainst this backdrop\, questions must be asked to identify how data can best be used to support a more efficient and attractive transport network. \n\nHow do we best use data to support MaaS services?\nHow do we unlock the true value of data?\nWho owns the data and who can access it?\nWhat changes to legislation or regulation may be required to support data use?\nHow do we keep data secure?\n\nThis group will explore these issues and others with input from a diverse range of stakeholders from within the transport\, communications and data communities. \n\nNext meeting – 21st April – REGISTER TODAY \nFIND OUT MORE ABOUT THIS SIG AND PAST MEETINGS

SUMMARY:Photonics for Space Special Interest Group
DESCRIPTION:Photonics for Space Special Interest Group \nWednesday 24 March | 0930 – 1100 | Online \n  \n  \nBackground: Photonics in the space sector \nFor over a century\, Scotland has been at the cutting edge of photonics innovation. With over 60 companies at the heart of the Scottish photonics cluster\, this ‘invisible technology’ underpins a vast range of vertical markets. One of these markets\, and a currently growing sector for Scotland\, is space. \nAlmost one fifth of all UK jobs in the space sector are based in Scotland. Scotland produces more small satellites than any other country in Europe\, and aims to be the first country in Europe to provide a complete solution for the manufacture and launch of small satellites\, supporting satellite and environmental data analysis and critical earth observation. \nTechnology Scotland in partnership with the Higgs Centre for Innovation\, is currently exploring ways to further highlight the role of photonics in the space sector\, with particular emphasis on supporting members to realise potential opportunities\, removing some of the stigmas surrounding barriers to the space sector\, signposting towards relevant funding and nurturing a community to help build an ecosystem for the space sector within Scotland. \n  \nObjectives of this Special Interest Group \nTechnology Scotland’s Photonics for Space Special Interest Group will have an overarching goal to support its members to understand the opportunities that exist for photonics companies within the space sector. We recognise that this sector can be perceived as having barriers to entry; however there are potentially good opportunities for our members. Non-participation can often be attributed to a basic lack of knowledge relating to specific markets\, test requirements\, manufacturing considerations\, or regulatory frameworks. \nTechnology Scotland’s Photonics for Space Special Interest Group aims to allay these apprehensions by improving visibility of the potential opportunities and sharing the experience of those already operating in the local supply chain\, creating forums for knowledge exchange and collaboration and signposting to appropriate support. \nIn this first meeting of the Photonics for Space Special Interest Group we shall set the scene for the potential opportunities within the space sector for photonics companies\, and give a brief overview of the support and potential funding available. The experience of some companies already working in the sector will also be shared before having a round-table discussion to gain a better understanding of what this Special Interest Group can do to smooth the route into the space sector for new entrants from the photonics industry. \n  \nREGISTER TODAY

SUMMARY:ONLINE EVENT – Navigating the Design to Manufacture Journey: Risks\, Regulation & Standards
DESCRIPTION:   Risks\, Regulation and Standards \n10th June  12:00 – 13:00 \nHardware development is fraught with risks. There is risk to the project inherent in the uncertainty of design and the progressive impact of changes made late in the process.  There is also responsibility on the developer to consider the efficacy and safety of the product through its life-cycle. Can it be manufactured and used as intended? Are there unintended consequences that due care could avoid? Regulations and standards exist to protect users and manufacturers as well as the hardware developers themselves. In this session\, we’ll hear about different challenges and approaches associated with risk\, regulation and standards. This is a broad topic and we will just scratch the surface but there will be an opportunity to ask questions during the Q&A session. \nSpeakers \n\nStuart Kelly\, Designer\, Systolic\n\n“Risk in product design” \n\nRory Ingram\, Product Realisation team lead\, AFRC\n\n“Thinking about regulation and risk in hardware development for high integrity sectors” \n\nAlasdair Walker\, Owner\, Lorit Consultancy\n\n“Creating a culture of safety” \nREGISTER
