DESCRIPTION:9th Intelligent Imaging Conference \nImaging as the most information rich sensing technology is one of the most important technology widely utilised across human society and industries\, from entertainment\, healthcare\, security\, agriculture to transport\, energy and space\, etc. \nUK has been one of the key players in the imaging technology development\, and has played a key role in numbers of key imaging technology innovations\, including MRI\, Television\, Industrial Process Tomography\, etc. UK universities are still at the leading edge of many imaging technology research. The UK also has many innovative imaging technology companies who are focusing on developing and commercialising some of the most exciting imaging innovations. However\, the large diversified applications of the imaging technology also fragment the technology research and innovations in the markets\, increasing the barrier for imaging technology research\, innovation and commercialisation in the markets. \nTo help speed up the imaging technology innovation and commercialisation\, KTN has been organising the one-day networking events – Intelligent Imaging – to provide a platform to bring relevant imaging communities together to network\, share knowledge and collaborate. \nThe 9th Intelligent Imaging event aims to bring imaging end-user communities\, imaging technology providers\, novel imaging technology researchers\, innovation funders and other relevant stakeholders together to share their knowledge on market challenges\, state of the art commercial technologies\, emerging imaging technology research\, and innovation funding opportunities\, to stimulate new ideas\, network and facilitate partnerships and collaboration development\, and to promote and speed up business innovation development in the imaging technology sector in the UK. \nIn this workshop\, we have invited experts speakers from industry and research communities to share their expert views in four key areas: \n\nMarket challenges and needs\nState of the art imaging technologies\nEmerging imaging technologies\nRelevant innovation funding in the UK.\n\nExhibition: There is a limited number of exhibition spaces for interested companies to showcase their imaging technologies/ expertise and capabilities at the event. \nPlease sign up here

DESCRIPTION:Competition Details \nInnovate UK is to invest up to £19 million to support innovation that offers significant changes in productivity and cutting-edge innovation. The competition has 2 strands; strand 1 is for health and life sciences projects and strand 2 is for emerging and enabling technologies projects. A further £12 million is available to fund Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs). \nProjects under strand 1\, Health and Life Sciences must show significant innovation in one of these priority areas: \n1. Increasing agricultural productivity\n2. Improving food quality and sustainability\n3. Advanced therapies (cell and gene therapies)\n4. Precision medicine\n5. Medicines discovery\n6. Advanced biosciences \nThe aim of the competition under strand 2 emerging and enabling technologies is to help UK businesses broaden their innovation activities\, disrupt existing markets and find new revenue sources. Projects must show significant innovation in one of 4 priority areas: \n1. Emerging technologies (biofilms\, energy harvesting\, graphene\, new imaging technologies)\n2. Digital\n3. Enabling capabilities\, including electronics\, sensors and photonics (ESP)\, robotics and autonomous systems (RAS)\, creative economy and design\n4. Space applications \nAll projects must involve at least one SME\, working alone or in collaboration with other organisations. SUMMARY:Maritime Enterprise Innovation Scotland Conference
DESCRIPTION:To maintain its world class capabilities in the years ahead the Royal Navy will require even greater industrial partnership and innovation throughout the supply chain.  This fact is recognised in the Defence Enterprise approach adopted in the Strategic Defence and Security Review published autumn 2015. \nThe Royal Navy plans to move its submarine capability to Faslane\, all 11 submarines will be based at HMNB Clyde from 2020 which will result in the number of people employed at the base rising from 6\,800 people to 8\,200 people. \nSponsored by Rear Admiral John Weale (Flag Officer Scotland and Northern Ireland and Assistant Chief of Naval Staff Submarines)\, the Maritime Enterprise Innovation and Research activities aim to create an open forum for Navy\, Industry and Academia to collaborate and drive innovation through research. \nUniversity of Strathclyde supported the Royal Navy in hosting the inaugural Maritime Enterprise Innovation Conference Scotland on 8th December 2016.  The conference brought together c.275 delegates from the Royal Navy\, government\, academia and industry to discuss innovation and innovative ideas\, improve links and collaboration opportunities\, share Defence ways of working and highlight the growth of innovation in Scotland across Industry.  The conference speakers included Harriet Baldwin MP (Minister of Defence Procurement)\, Vice Admiral Jonathan Woodcock (Second Sea Lord & Deputy Chief of Naval Staff)\, Prof Sir Jim McDonald (University of Strathclyde Principal) and Prof Sir John Pethica (Science Foundation Ireland professor of material science at Trinity College\, Dublin\, Chief Scientific Advisor at the UK’s National Physical Laboratory). \nMEISC2017 will be held on the 24th January 2018 will have a theme of ‘The Underwater Environment’.  The conference aims to build on MEISC2016 and is being developed in conjunction with the Maritime Enterprise Innovation and Research partners and the Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA).  MEISC aims to bring together Users\, SMEs\, Tier1 Industry partners\, DASA and Defence Innovation funding such that a clear exploitation path can be developed to solve/assist solving complex maritime problems in the underwater environment through creativity and collaboration. \nTo register interest and receive further details please email corporate-events@strath.ac.uk \n
