Workforce of the Future: Attracting, Understanding and Retaining Talent
When: Thursday 20 September, 8am – 10am
Where: Cirrus Logic, Edinburgh
We are experiencing a fundamental transition in the way we work. Thanks to advances in technology, booming skills demand, and changing demographics and social values, competition for talent is fierce. Coupled with that, the personal expectations of those entering the workforce today have radically disrupted business models, changing where, when and how work is done.
With the pace of change accelerating faster than ever before, how can employers embrace the future of work? What needs to be done to prepare for an exciting but undefined future? And how can companies attract, understand, and retain the people they need?
In this morning workshop, attendees will hear from three experts working in the field of talent recruitment and HR. Each speaker has extensive hands-on experience with helping companies to find and retain the best talent, and to embrace the future of work for a more adaptable, relevant and motivated workforce.
Bruce Hydes, Founder & Director at ESS: ‘Talent acquisition in post Millennial Britain’
Bruce’s presentation will focus on the ‘the generation game’, focusing on ‘X, Y, Z’ and where we are today. By drawing on his expertise and vast experience in the recruitment sector, Bruce will discuss recruitment and skills acquisition between 2000 and 2008, followed by an in-depth look at what happened next – what are the trends and issues post credit crunch? How have these affected the employee of today? And what are the current recruitment and acquisition trends?
Following this, Bruce will take a specific look at the so-called Millennial Generation, identifying what young people are looking for in an employer today and how companies can build their brand to attract the right employees.
Gillian Brown, Founder & Director of Full Circle Global: ‘Understanding and Engaging your Millennial Workforce’
Gillian’s presentation will offer an insight into how Millennials want to work and live, presenting 6 big changes that leaders and managers should make in order to retain their talent. As the Founder & Director of Full Circle Global, Gillian will use her expertise in coaching to discuss how to get the conversation right through a coaching approach, as well as top tips to be an effective leader and manager of Millennials.
