Trade Horizons Germany – UK Photonics Trip
From Monday 22nd – Friday 26th May 2023, Trade Horizons is hosting a business delegation of German SMEs operating in the Photonics industry. The project is part of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) Market Development Program for SMEs.
The delegation will include 9 German SMEs in various subsectors of photonics: semiconductors, laser, optics, fibers and sensors.
The focus of the delegation is networking and meeting with British industry to develop relationships between UK companies, expand existing market activities and learn more about the British photonics ecosystem.
The project is technically supported in the UK by Technology Scotland, Fraunhofer UK, Photonics Scotland, EPIC Centre, Photonics Leadership Group, Torbay High Tech Cluster, Techworks and Quantic. In Germany the project is supported by Spectaris, Optonet, Bayern Photonics, IVAM and Optence Photonics Hub.

The delegation will be visiting the Fraunhofer to share their specific expertise and capabilities. In the afternoon the delegation will be briefed by experts on the British photonics ecosystem.
Date: Tuesday 23rd May 2023. Time: 9:00 – 17:00
The delegates will present their companies and products to the audience, experts will perform talks on different aspects of the photonics industry and research. British and German companies will be able to network and make new contacts over lunch and drinks until the afternoon. The event will take place at Strathclyde Business School at 199 Cathedral Street, G4 0QU.
Date: Wednesday 24th May 2023. Time: 9:00 – 16:00
The group will be available for individual B2B-meetings both in and around Glasgow and Edinburgh and will then fly to Bristol in the evening.
