Product Design Scotland Breakfast Seminar – Managing Innovation Risk

The first meeting in our new Product Design Scotland Breakfast Seminar Series.

The Product Design Scotland Breakfast Seminar Series has been created to connect and empower Scotland’s innovation ecosystem, bringing together designers, innovators and industry leaders to address key elements in the innovation to commercialisation journey.

Hosted in an informal, breakfast briefing format, each seminar brings together practitioners from across disciplines to explore the ideas, tools, and best practices that are shaping successful commercialisation strategies. Themes covered in this series will include testing and prototyping, market fit and customer adoption, supply chain management, regulatory barriers and innovation risk.

Whether you’re an established designer, a budding entrepreneur, part of an ambitious scaling company, or just beginning your journey in product development, the Breakfast Seminar Series is an opportunity to build relationships, spark new thinking, and stay connected with the dynamic design ecosystem across Scotland.

Seminar One – Managing Innovation Risk

Managing innovation risk is about balancing the excitement of new ideas with the discipline needed to ensure they succeed. Whenever organisations pursue novel products, technologies, or business models, they enter territory filled with uncertainty – market reactions, technical feasibility, competitive moves, and regulatory shifts can all pose challenges. Effective innovation risk management doesn’t aim to eliminate this uncertainty; instead, it provides a structured way to identify potential pitfalls early, experiment safely, and make informed decisions. By combining creativity with thoughtful risk assessment, companies can innovate with confidence while protecting their resources and strategic goals.

Join us for the first meeting in our Product Design Scotland Breakfast Seminar Series, as we discuss this important consideration, sharing knowledge and highlighting success stories that will support your journey to commercialisation.
